NEC Certifies 100% of their Safety Directors through the ISHM

Dec. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Earlier this month, National Express Corporation (NEC) proudly announced that all of their Safety Directors have been certified by the ISHM.  The Institute for Safety and Health Management is a credentialing organization founded by the National Safety Management Society (NSMS) to promote the establishment of professional standards. The ISHM promotes the establishment of professional standards for those functioning as safety and health managers in the work environment.
   
NEC operates more than 20,000 buses that service school districts in 32 states and 4 Canadian provinces.  NEC’s 8 Area Directors of Safety have earned the Certified Safety and Health Management (CSHM) certification.  For health and safety professionals, the Certified Safety and Health Manager certification is the only accredited certification that focuses entirely on the safety management process.  

According to a press release from NEC, the company is now the first and only national school bus operator in North America to have reached this level of safety certification.  Bob Trinkleback, CSHM, CSP, CPEA, Vice President of Safety for NEC, reported, “There’s a big difference when it comes to our company’s safety program and other school bus providers on the road.”

Larry Curtis, CSHM, Executive Director of ISHM, was pleased to announce NEC’s accomplishment.  “It’s great to see a company like NEC take safety management to the level they have accomplished,” stated Mr. Curtis.  “The ISHM’s CSHM program was selected by NEC due to its management focus.  We congratulate NEC for their achievement.”
