Besides, even the compact cameras can be quite expensive and can cost from anywhere around a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars, and they can use interchangeable lenses. But the good thing is that they are quite compact.
Many are aware of types, such as Ultra Compact, Point and Shoot , Compact with Interchangeable lenses, Underwater Cameras, Digital Single Lens Reflex, and Camcorders, but there is something known as bridge cameras as well.
Similar in appearance to the DSLR, these share the same feature with that of the compact camera owing to its permanent lens. The difference is that this type gives the user more control without the complexities of the DSLR. It is called so because it bridges the gap between the compact point and shoot types and the digital SLRs.
A slightly advanced version is the mirror-less one, which is slightly smaller than the DSLR but features larger sensors and the user can also change lenses. These cameras produce images similar to those taken by the DSLR.
As one can see, there are many different types of digital cameras available, so one needs to look at those to see what suits their needs and requirements, before choosing a new one. For casual use, one may choose a point and shoot, whereas for advanced usage one may go in for a compact system camera or maybe even a digital slr camera.
