Sisters Network Shreveport Selected as Patient Advocacy Group of the Month

Dec. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Sisters Network Shreveport, an affiliate chapter of Sisters Network Inc., has been named by Patient Resource Guide as the December 2012 Advocacy Group of the Month. The Northwest Louisiana based breast cancer support organization will receive a monetary donation and be featured on the Patient Resource Guide web site as well as the print magazine. Patient Resource Cancer Guide acknowledges advocacy groups whose dedication and compassion has helped cancer patients to “learn well”.

“We are honored to be recognized for our continued advocacy on behalf of the most underserved women battling breast cancer in our community,” says Crystal-Brown-Tatum-Chapter President. “In addition to advocates, our chapter members serve as navigators, educators and peer counselors to buffer the crippling diagnosis of breast cancer.” Currently, the Shreveport chapter has more than 25 members and has reached more than 3,000 people since its inception in August of 2011.

Sisters Network Inc. is the only national African-American breast cancer survivorship organization in the United States with more than 46 chapters across the U.S. The organization is committed to reducing the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community.
