By Thursday night through Friday morning, there were around 1,000 dental patients waiting in line before the clinic officially opened by Friday 6:30 PM. The drive was successfully able to provide dental care to 2,000 plus patients who needed teeth extraction, partial dentures, fillings and oral prophylaxis. Although the volunteer turn out was high, the organizers of the event had to close its doors to the remaining patients outside of the 2,000 headcount so the volunteers can focus on the patients who arrived early. Over all, the event was successful, with about $1.1 million worth of dental care provided for free.
Ballantyne Center for Dentistry together with its dentists and dental staff, are very happy and proud to be part of such monumental event. They will continue to keep the spirit of volunteerism alive in the next free dental drive for those who need it most in the next coming up events that they will join.
