Pittsburgh Steelers Speaking at Local Elementary School
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Steelers teammates Will Johnson and Baron Batch announce their plans to speak at Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School (CVE). The topic of Tuesday’s assembly will be, “Overcoming Adversity,” a subject that both Johnson and Batch have become familiar with in their quest for success in the National Football League (NFL). Both teammates will share stories of extraordinary faith, determination and gratitude in hopes of inspiring the students of CVE.
When: Tuesday, Dec. 18
1:30 p.m.
Where: Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School
300 South Pittsburgh St.
Zelienople, PA 16063
Johnson, a first-year fullback and 2012 Pro Bowl nominee, is excited to share his overwhelming story of hardship turned triumph with the CVE student body. Johnson was signed by the Steelers organization as a free agent in March earlier this year, after remaining undrafted in 2011.
Batch was drafted in 2011 after an outstanding collegiate career at Texas Tech. Batch was sidelined after suffering a torn ACL midway through training camp, preventing him from playing his first NFL season as a rookie. Batch credits the role of others in overcoming obstacles.
