Willem-Geert Lagemaat, CEO: “We have created a distinctive and extensive data set, machine translated (MT) into English of patents and utility models published in Japan from 1913 to date. The data set contains over 9 million documents, and includes searchable full text of granted patents from 1994 and patent applications from 1993.”
Content of Japanese Full Text Machine Translations (MT)
All Japanese full text machine translated documents have bibliographic information, and patent classifications (F Terms, FI, IPC and ECLA (being replaced by CPC in 2013)). If available, documents contain the front page drawing and access to the Japanese image PDF. Abstracts are available for patent applications from 1976 to date. The English (MT) version is produced using the latest linguistic rule-based MT techniques and combined with Lighthouse IP Group’s own proprietary dictionaries, all based around IPC codes. The searchable full text data set is also available in Japanese.
Highest Possible Accuracy of Full Text Machine Translations
Willem Geert Lagemaat: “When translating patents, accuracy is extremely important. Lighthouse IP has a distinctive approach by combining patent understanding, translations understanding, data handling and Japanese patent expertise. Our intelligent machine translator and human aided translation machines translate the patents within two weeks of publication date. We have a team of experienced linguists who monitor the machine translations process and manually translate missing text. Due to our strict quality procedures we ensure the most accurate, high-quality, searchable Japanese patent full text machine translations collection available.”
Multiple Access Options to Japanese Full Text Machine Translations
Multiple access options are available to dig into the Japanese full text machine translations. Customers may license the entire full text collection or even choose just one patent. They may select on-going updates of all patents published containing a particular IPC set or subscribe to alerts to monitor the progress of a patent application, or keep up with a particular company’s or inventor’s patents. Even the preferred delivery method and frequency can be selected.
CEO Willem Geert Lagemaat: “We strive to continually improve our data. Therefore, we are seeking improved legal status data and are working on adding full text machine translations into English for Utility Models and older documents to complete the data set. This will strengthen our role as a leading global information services firm with a focus on Asian Intellectual Property.”
