Photokore Announces Agreement to Sell to Asian Investors

Dec. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Photokore (www.photokore.com) announced today it has entered into an agreement to sell the microstock photo agency in its entirety to an undisclosed buyer based in Asia. Sean Mooney, the founder and CEO of Photokore, confirmed the sale today.

Established in 2010, Photokore quickly rose to prominence in the Asian digital imagery market with its unique ecommerce offering of local language search in multiple Asian languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Bahasa Indonesian, Filipino, and Thai). Having accumulated a diverse range of images, encompassing over 2 million photos and illustrations from thousands of contributors from over 130 countries, the site quickly grew in sales and stature.

“Our quick growth in terms of acquisition of digital assets, and our success in growing sales throughout the Asian region, brought me great satisfaction,” said founder and CEO Sean Mooney. “However, this success also highlighted the need for further investment in both time and funds. Having been approached by several interested investors, I thought the time had come to allow Photokore to develop to the next stage.”

Photokore’s new owners announced that the company doesn’t plan any significant changes in its operations or work, and it plans to continue what Sean Mooney started - with a continued focus on superior image search results, quality of digital image contents, and site ease-of-use.
