Security at the hotel was at its highest since the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting), which took place in late 2011, with Mrs Clinton arriving at the hotel amid a flurry of personal assistants, police, marines and secret service agents.
According to Adam Myott, general manager of the hotel, “Every measure was taken to ensure the visit by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her entire team ran as smoothly as possible and the outcome was very positive.”
While staying at the hotel, Mrs Clinton met with Ms Gillard at the hotel’s award-winning Cafe restaurant , which has recently been named in the Gold Plate Hall of Fame. The two enjoyed tea, coffee and a selection of delicate pastries, macaroons and Western Australian seasonal fruits.
Before leaving the hotel, Mrs Clinton kindly spared a couple of minutes to have her photo taken with some Hyatt Regency Perth employees. After sharing a few words she was again whisked off by her entourage to embark on the next leg of her journey.
