The 4th Hair Peace Charities Survivor's Celebration Luncheon is sponsored anonymously by several women and The LeMont Restaurant annually. This year the charity assisted over 230 local women fighting cancer by assisting them in purchasing of a wig.
All of the women were invited to this special afternoon of fellowship and great food along with a special message from two-time survivor, Chris Needles. Needles was first diagnosed when she was forty but is now cancer free. She will give an encouraging speech entitled, "Living with the big C...COURAGE!
Hair Peace Charities is a nonprofit local organization which started in 2005 by radio personality and breast cancer survivor, Bonny Diver. "Women with all types of cancer call for help, says Diver. “It is an emotional blow to be told you have cancer but to then hear you will lose your hair within two weeks of treatment feels like the cancer has already won. Hair Peace picks them up with financial aid and encouragement."
Over 500 women from the Western PA region have received assistance from Hair Peace Charities and 300 more are expected in the following year.
