IDEC Announces 2012 Election Results

Dec. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Lisa Waxman, Chair of the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) Nominating Committee, announces the election of officers that will assume their duties on May 1, 2013.

Katherine Ankerson will serve IDEC as president-elect in 2013. Ankerson is the Department Head of Interior Architecture and Product Design at Kansas State University. She has previously served IDEC as a Director at Large and Administrator of the IDEC Academy. Ankerson will be the President of IDEC in 2014-2015.

Migette Kaup was re-elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer in 2013-2014. Kaup is an interior design educator and program coordinator at Kansas State University. Over the past five years she has served IDEC as Midwest Regional Chair, Midwest Regional Conference Chair and Regional Chair Representative to the Board of Directors. Kaup also served two years as a member of the Creative Scholarship Task Force.

Jacqualine McFarland, distinguished faculty at Mount Royal University and principal of jac*mac design studio inc., was elected as director – service Collaborative. McFarland has served as Treasurer of the IDEC Foundation for five years and hosted the IDEC Annual Conference in Calgary in 2000. She was honored in 2010 with the IDEC Award of Merit.  

IDEC’s organizational structure includes five regions covering North America. Three regional chair positions were elected.

Serving as the East Regional Chair will be Sandra Reicis, art department chairperson at Villa Maria College. She has been an active member of the East Region for the past two years.

Cindy Martimo will serve as the Midwest Regional Chair. Martimo is principal instructor, interior design, at Dunwoody College of Technology. She has been an active member of the Midwest Region since 2008.

The Southwest Region will be chaired by Hepi Wachter, associate professor at the University of Oklahoma. Most recently he was a member of the IDEC International, Scholarship Dissemination, and Publication Submission Task Forces.  He has also served as co-coordinator of the Southwest Region Conference Research and Scholarship Submissions.
