Local Artist Scott J. Menaul Commissioned to Create Captivating Abstracts For The Atrium Condominium

Dec. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, Fla. - December 12, 2012- Scott J. Menaul was commissioned to create his unique and captivating abstract artwork to hang in Tampa's historic high-rise landmark, The Atrium on Bayshore.

Menaul’s arresting artwork is an appropriate choice for the architectural artistry of The Atrium's lobby, which is unique in design, however, it was lacking color and excitement, say some of the residents. Menaul's custom artwork has changed the entire feel of the building. The custom pieces have sparked conversation and added excitement to the neutral tone and feel of the beige lobby.  

Words like “intriguing”, “inspiring”, and “spectacular” have all been used to describe Menaul’s artwork; as seen hanging in The Atrium's lobby today.

The process of developing this collection of canvases for The Atrium started when residents and board members toured Signature Place in downtown St. Petersburg - luxury residential condominiums where Menaul had been contracted to create over 70 pieces. Members of the Board of the Atrium set out to find an artist who could bring out the beauty of the common area spaces for The Atrium. The desired art would have design and color that enhanced the overall impact of the incredible lobby. Tall arching windows, indoor glass elevators stretching up 22 floors, each floor having numerous plant boxes, beautiful gardens, etc.  Menaul more than met the expectations.

Resident, Jane Johnson said the building was missing something and they found "that something" with Menaul's artwork. "The building has come alive with the work of Scott Menaul. We now have that updated look and feel that we've needed for over a decade.  His use of bright color gives us a good, positive vibe, which is something that was long overdue. Art is so subjective, yet Scott has managed to captivate all of us." She adds that his art represents a piece of everyone; something you don't find often.

The artist collaborated with interior designers about new lobby furniture from CORT Furniture. Territory Sales Manager for CORT, Tony Finocchiaro, was chosen to work on the project and drew inspiration from Menaul's work. He said, "I think the choice made and the artwork from (Scott) are nothing short of phenomenal."

With over 25 years as a commercial photographer specializing in shooting reflective surfaces, and over 15 years working with his medium, Scott J. Menaul has an individual style not seen elsewhere. His art seems to uniquely utilize light to reflect through the pieces in a very captivating way. He wanted to create "intriguing, engaging and exciting" canvases for the unique lobby at The Atrium. “I love color, patterns and forms, that when combined together, take on a life of their own. The artwork communicates to others and appears to touch them in a deep, personal and spiritual way. It’s an honor to create this for The Atrium,” said Scott J. Menaul.
