Dec. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- RiskMeter Online, a provider of real-time, natural hazard risk reports, today announced it will host a Webinar on Tuesday, December 18th at 2pm (EST) that will examine the impact Hurricane Sandy’s storm surge and flooding.

Hurricane Sandy affected 24 states, including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine.  So far it's been estimated that insured losses from Hurricane Sandy are over $20 billion dollars.  A majority of those losses were caused by hurricane storm surge and flooding in New York and New Jersey.  Once the final claims are processed, reinsurers and carriers will be on the hook for billions of dollars.

Although insurers will be taking a closer look at their storm surge exposure going forward, flooding from tropical storms & hurricanes should be a cause for concern as well.  On Tuesday, December 18th at 2pm (EST) Dan Munson, Founder, RiskMeter Online will host a live Webcast for RiskMeter users and prospects. This Webcast will take a closer look at the damage Hurricane Sandy caused, and will also cover:

● Hurricane Sandy's actual storm surge extents vs. RiskMeter's Storm Surge results
● The methodology behind RiskMeter's Storm Surge Report
● The methodology behind FEMA's flood data
● Why being out of a FEMA flood zone doesn't mean a policy isn't at risk from flooding or storm surge
● Why users should leverage storm surge and flood reports in coastal areas
● Using Aerial Overlays on flood and storm surge maps to understand risk exposure
● And much more!
