According to Smart Village MD, Chris van der Walt, Clifton was one of the only urban suburbs in South Africa where residents have experienced poor satellite reception. “Due to the suburb’s location and the influence of the mountain, the DStv satellite signal strength to many homes in this area was varied and certainly not at the quality that Multichoice strives to maintain. As a result, the decision was taken to install a centralised satellite head end to distribute digital signal over fibre to homes connected to our Clifton network”, Van der Walt says.
