By: TrainHR Bereavement Leave Policy is perhaps the employment policy that is in need of the most serious overhaul. Most organizations have 3-5 days of leave for bereavement, but that is very small time needed for an employee to complete the funeral and other rites and get back to work. Many organizations have made changes to this policy, but not at the core. For instance, some have expanded the list of family members who need to take off. But this does not address the core rationale behind a bereavement leave –that of healing the emotional wounds and supporting the employee. This webinar will help participants understand what changes they can make to existing bereavement leave policies. Ideally, bereavement leave should take into consideration the peculiar circumstances in which the individual is placed. It will impart to senior HR managers ways of defining procedures by which immediate managers can help an employee who has undergone a loss in the family. This session covers the following areas: o Needs of the employee when there has been a death of a family member o Review of typical company bereavement leave policies o What can be added to Bereavement Leave Policies that will help the employee o Visit what should be policy and what should be procedure o Discuss the pros and cons of changing the policies ------------------------------------------------------------ When: January 24, 2013, 10:00 AM PDT | 01:00 PM EDT ------------------------------------------------------------ By whom: Rachel Kodanaz, founder of Grief in the Workplace, is a national speaker and facilitator on all aspects of grief, specifically supporting the workplace.
