PRLog - Dec. 11, 2012 - SUNSHINE COAST, Australia -- In today’s dynamic and mobile world, smart phones have made voice, text and video communication, easy. For this reason, the Active School Apps Team has revealed that schools in Australia are turning to these devices to improve communication with parents.

“Gone are the days of parents searching for newsletters in school bags, for trying to find out if a sports event is ‘rained out’, or for trying in vain to find the location of a non-school based event” explained Active School Apps MD, Leigh Kostianien.

“This information can be loaded to our school apps, with pop up messages sent immediately to parents” she continued. “We are seeing a growing trend for progressive schools to move in this direction for school-parent communications.”

However, she explains, the communication is not one way. Schools that have had their own mobile apps are able to streamline their admin processes considerably by securely receiving absent notes and permission notes from parents.

“As well, several schools have asked that we include the option of building online payment systems into their apps, to further reduce their administration costs” said Mrs Kostianien.

Ms Kostianien makes it clear that School Apps are not SMS messaging services. Apps are pieces of software, with each being created specifically for each school. Those from Active School Apps (http://www.activeschoolapps.com.au) work across different platforms and are suitable for both iphones and android phones.

“Active School Apps will potentially save many thousands of dollars every year for schools that currently SMS services, who print school newsletters, and who manually process notes from parents” said Ms Kostianien.

A Growing Trend Fuelled By Referrals

“We have found that the response from forward-thinking schools has been tremendous” she continued. “Those who have been using Active School Apps for several months now are our biggest advocates - and we reward them for their referrals”.

“We now have 80 schools using our free demo - and the number grows daily.”

With Australia approaching the end of the school year, Mrs Kostianien believes that this is an ideal time to request a free demo - and get  it up and running in time for the start of the 2013 school year.
