Follow on Google News | Historic Rosemont Opens its Doors for Christmas Tour to Benefit Local CharitiesHistoric Rosemont Manor in Berryville, VA to offer a Christmas Open House and Tour to benefit local charities on Monday, December 17th, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 5 and under.
The Open House will include a complete, historic tour of the Main Manor, as well as the Carriage House, parts of the grounds, and the "Byrd's Nest" honeymoon cottage. Guests will conclude their visit to Rosemont with refreshments and an opportunity to purchase exclusive gift items and specialty teas. "This is our third year hosting this event, " says Rosemont owner William Genda. "It's a great opportunity to open our doors to the community at large and to raise money for these charities who do so much to serve families in our area." This year's Open House promises to be especially beautiful and breath-taking for visitors, thanks in large part to the vision of Michael Haymaker, Rosemont Director of Weddings and Design. Haymaker created the entire design for this year's holiday decorations and the results are stunning. "As I walked through the manor, I tried to envision what Rosemont would have looked like as a private residence," Haymaker remarks. "Each room in the manor has its own character and sense of style. As I planned out the decorations, I wanted to incorporate the feeling of charm, grace, and hospitality. These qualities exemplify the history and the legacy of Rosemont and her former owners." Historic Rosemont Manor, built in 1811, has been home to many prominent families, including the Tyson family from Baltimore, the Harriman family from New York, and of course the Byrds. After nearly 200 years as a private residence, Rosemont opened its doors in 2010 as Northern Virginia's premier weddings and special events venue, and luxury bed and breakfast establishment. "We have enjoyed serving numerous overnight B&B guests from all over the world, as well as hosting over 75 weddings in our first two years of business," says Rosemont General Manager, Bill North. "We like to say that Rosemont is the place where elegance meets history, and our goal is to treat all our guests with the utmost graciousness and hospitality."
