Chestnut Hill recently received the “Top 10 Award” for United States B&Bs in the 2012 Best of BedandBreakfast.com®
The award names Chestnut Hill one of the best in the country for travel experience, hospitality and customer service. And it marks the third time in the inn’s three years of eligibility that it has won a Best of BedandBreafast.com award—a first for any B&B in the competition.
“We are so overwhelmed to win this award,” says Kathleen Ayers. “There a lot of great B&Bs out there, and it’s an incredible honor to be recognized as one of the Top 10 B&Bs in the country.”
The accolades also are gratifying to the Ayers because of the tremendous effort involved in restoring the home. Terms of the auction sale of the property required the couple to pick up and move the house to an adjoining piece of property to make way for an access road to ease traffic congestion for a new middle school. After saving the property from being torn down, the Ayers had to renovate it—a six-year undertaking through which Troy and Kathleen took great care to preserve the master craftsmanship of the historic home, which was built in 1860 and has been placed on Virginia’s Register of Historic Places.
