A display of fourteen giant figures will give Yuletide visitors to the Northgate Street retail complex an insight into a legacy which goes back to Celtic times.
“Christmas shoppers to the city will be able to enjoy a display which will explain Chester’s connection with giants, “ said Kristine Szulik, Project Director for Chester The Giant City, a social enterprise initiative which organises the building of giants.
“Many people are simply not aware of the city’s historical links to giants and giant making or why it is known as the Giant city,” she added. “So we thought we could tell that story with this wonderful display and Christmas is the perfect time of year for story telling.
“The ancient Celtic King Leon is featured in our giant display but I won’t spoil the surprises awaiting our visitors by revealing any further details apart from the fact that we will also be featuring a giant Nativity scene, “ said Kristine who pointed out that Chester law firm Jolliffe & Co had sponsored the exhibition.
Forum centre manager Mr Lawrence Allen said: “Giants have featured in the Forum’s Christmas decorations in recent weeks and have been very popular with shoppers. So when the opportunity to have a full display came up we grabbed it with both hands.
“It makes for an even bigger, better Christmas for our valued shoppers.”
