C.W. Driver is Design-Build Contractor for 605 Castro St, Mountain View The $28 million project, part of Mountain View’s plan for updating its most central downtown areas, includes 28,000 square feet of office and retail space, along with 15,000 square feet of residential condominium space. “We are excited to be part of the ongoing development of the downtown area of Mountain View, which is a vibrant, lively and diverse center for urban living,” said Mike Castillo, Senior Vice President of the Northern California Region for C.W. Driver. “We bring our strong background in commercial and retail development, as well as our expertise in mixed-use projects to the Castro Street project.” The new four-story complex at 605 Castro Street, which includes one floor of retail and three floors of offices, sits on almost half an acre of land at the corners of Castro, Church and Hope Streets in a highly visible area of the downtown. Developed by MPM Corporation, 605 Castro Street is MPM’s tribute to the memory of Moosa Malek, the company’s founder, who was stricken with Lou Gehrig’s disease. William Maston Architect and Associates is the master design and entitlement architect. Steinberg Architects is the detailed-design architect. With completion slated for July 2014, the project is a key element in Mountain View’s Downtown Precise Plan, which integrates mixed-use, community activity and entertainment centers into the downtown and transit station area.
