Foster Youth Holiday Party 2nd Annual "Giveaways for the Holidays"

LOS ANGELES – There are nearly 30,000 foster youth living in Los Angeles County — and this year alone 2,400 young adults will have to leave the support of the foster care system forever. At the age of 21, their cases will be “terminated,” and many times when they are released into the community they have minimal life skills, no financial support and no identity for the lack of birth certificates and social security cards. This leaves them vulnerable and they become victims by committing theft, prostitution and selling drugs for survival.

The solution? Living Advantage’s e-LockBox which includes the Virtual Assisted Living and Education (VALE (http://www.livingadvantageinc.org/VALE-Program.cfm)) program. The e-LockBox is a secure electronic storage web application that maintains the vital life documents, including social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records. Foster Youth will become empowered and self-reliant as they utilize a secured interactive website, specially designed to allow transient individuals access to their vital life documents. This access, in turn, enables transitioned aged youth to expedite retrieval of educational, employment and medical resources.
