With 2charitees, Entrepreneur to Benefit Charities And Provide Jobs For Persons With Disabilities

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 17, 2012 - Entrepreneur Bruce Nilson’s desire to combine charitable giving with job opportunities for the disabled motivated him to launch his company, 2charitees, a social venture that designs and markets graphic T-shirts featuring one charity on the tee and benefitting a second one that prints the tee.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 15 percent of the world’s population, or one billion people, live with various disabilities. There are 39 million disabled people in the USA, and more than one million people in New Jersey, a fact that prompted Gov. Christie to tout an 'Employment First' policy to remove barriers-to-work for people with disabilities.

The concept of 2charitees, is:
ONE: $5 from every T-shirt goes to the cause on the T-shirt.
TWO: The T-shirts are printed by people with intellectual disabilities at Elmwood Industries from The ARC of Bergen and Passaic Counties.

“At any time there could be from one to three people with intellectual disabilities working on printing our tees. Like Charlie, 48 years old, who loves working and has a great attitude towards everybody,” said Mr. Nilson, who makes frequent visits to the printing facility.

“2charitees’ shirts are printed by real people, in small batches, so no two tees are exactly the same, making them like limited editions,” Mr. Nilson said. “Because we wish to have people with intellectual disabilities make money printing our tees, our tees are a little more expensive, but our customers think it’s worth it.”
