From the mind of creator Francis Abbey, The Broken Continent transports the audience to the Five Shards of Elyrion, a shattered land where some battle for supremacy while most battle for survival. Creating a fantasy world on screen is a tall order, particularly on a microbudget. But Abbey and fellow producers Kelley Slagle and Bjorn Munson felt confident that they could tap into the popularity of the fantasy genre to raise enough money to do just that. By executing their carefully planned initial Kickstarter campaign, the producers were able to exceed their goal of $35,000, raising over $42,000. The funds raised were used to hire a crew of over 20 and a cast of nearly 60.
Now that principal photography is finished, attention turns to enhancing the world of Elyrion with visual effects and music. Once complete, the producers plan to take The Broken Continent to conventions and festivals over the next year, where the pilot can be screened in front of fantasy fans and industry professionals.
