In searching for second income ideas, here’s what I discovered. First of all, while there are a lot of great home business opportunities available, you really have to do your research before jumping in with one of them. For example, I was looking for second income ideas a few years back and heard about a great company (from a family member). So, without really doing any of my own homework, I jumped right in and became an affiliate. Before I knew it, I was buying all kinds of soaps, cleaners and laundry detergent. While I’ll have to say the products were excellent, the business opportunity was just not for me. I found myself spending hours upon hours on the telephone, having home parties, as well as bugging all of my family and friends.
“Building a contact list,” was always the important task with this company. They had what they called the “three foot rule.” You needed to talk about your business opportunity to everyone within three feet of you. I worked at this business for almost two years. I actually signed-up quite a few people. But, here was the next problem: most of the people that I signed-up all quit within the first 90 days. I ended-up having to sign-up a boat load of people each month…just to stay even. As second income ideas go, this was not for me.
