PRLog - Dec. 9, 2012 - They say, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. This week, we’re not so certain. Imitation with permission and collaboration is awesome. Imitation without permission and someone trying to steal your ideas, well, that’s not so cool.

After the tragic events of 9-11-01, Kevin L. McCrudden had The United States Congress pass H. Res 308 acknowledging January 2nd of every year as National Motivation & Inspiration Day©, becoming the first and to our knowledge, the ONLY motivational and leadership speaker to ever have such a day passed by The United States Congress. The intent of National Motivation & Inspiration Day© is to help people, especially young adults to establish realistic annuals goals for themselves to help increase personal performance.
Kevin L. McCrudden is the founder of National Motivation & Inspiration Day© and President of Motivate America, whose company motto is to help people “take action to make things happen,” in order to “become the very best U that U can be.”
“This week, I am so proud to announce that Motivate America (www.MotivateAmerica.us) and National Motivation & Inspiration Day© (www.MotivationandInspirationDay.org ) have joined LifeTime Fitness and The LifeTime Foundation to become a “Founding Member” of Commitment Day,” says McCrudden.
Commitment Day ( www.commitmentday.com ) is an all-inclusive, 365-day national movement created by LifeTime Fitness to take a stance and personal responsibility for improving the health of America.
Why focus on America’s health? The health of America is one of the most crucial issues facing our country, because:
· Controllable diseases are out of control and cardiovascular disease is at an all-time high
· The weight and obesity epidemic, driven by poor nutrition and a lack of exercise, affects two-thirds of U.S. adults
· The crippling financial burden of poor health affects us all and costs U.S. companies $12.7 billion annually
· Of even greater concern, a generation of children now have a lower life expectancy than their parents
“I am thrilled to be a “Founding Member” of Commitment Day, because I believe in this message. There is a solution and it starts with a commitment,”
The partnership of working with Lifetime Fitness on Commitment Day is an example of a collaboration that is a great example of companies with similar visions and missions working toward a common goal.
Unfortunately, this week, we have become aware of an event by a struggling national cable network and media mogul that is not a collaboration and they have essentially borrowed intellectual property from National Motivation & Inspiration Day© and The American Motivation Awards©. ( www.AmericanMotivationAwards.com )
In speaking about the event, Mr. McCrudden was reserved and stated that they may be looking toward legal action. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished with National Motivation & Inspiration Day© and The American Motivation Awards©. Considering I have had it passed by The United States Congress and New York State Legislature, I just never thought that someone would take almost the exact same words of motivation and inspiration and just switch them around in order to take advantage of the work we have done.” stated McCrudden “In an industry that focuses on personal development and integrity and character, I am a little shocked and disheartened that one of the leaders of this industry would just steal an idea rather than reaching out to work with us to build National Motivation & Inspiration Day© and The American Motivation Awards©. If people knew who it was they would be shocked,” concluded McCrudden.
In searching the Internet, we could not readily find what was being referred to, but there were a couple of items under Inspiration and motivation that Mr. McCrudden was referring to.
Regardless, it would seem that what Mr. McCrudden started in 2001 by creating National Motivation & Inspiration Day© and the idea of helping America change it’s course has become a popular focus in 2012.
