This is not the first year that the MX-5 Miata has won a place in the 10 Best Cars List. In fact, this is the eighth year in a row the vehicle has been recognized by Car and Driver and the 14th year overall. The vehicle first went into production in 1989 and has been considerably successful since its initial release. It first made its debut in the Top Ten list in 1990, one year after its release.
Car and Driver praised the vehicle for being more than just a powerful vehicle. They highlight how the 2013 car provides finely tuned controls that give drivers exacting authority over the vehicle. These controls have helped the car become the most popular roadster ever, according to Guinness World Records.
The vehicle is equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder MZR powertrain that produces 167 hp, 140 lb-ft of torque with 7,200 rpm redlines. The convertible roadster is carefully balanced with near 50:50 front to rear weight distribution to provide the most responsive handling. It features a double-wishbone front suspension and rear multilink suspension. A suspension package is also available on the car that offers improved shock absorbers and sport-enhanced springs.
Drivers can take home the 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata in three separate trim models: Sport, Club, and Grand Touring. While highly performance minded, the vehicle still provides modern features such as Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.
