South Carolina PT/PTA Renewal Requirements

License renewal and continuing education requirements for South Carolina-licensed Physical Therapists and Assistants. Renewal deadline 12/31/2012.

Dec. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- South Carolina-licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) have an upcoming license renewal deadline of December 31, 2012 (due even-numbered years). Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew.

Continuing education means an organized educational program designed to expand a licensee’s knowledge base beyond the basic entry-level educational requirements for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Course content must relate to patient care in physical therapy whether the subject is research, treatment, documentation, education, or management.

Milestone Continuing Education (https://www.milestonece.com/) courses meet the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy requirements and are accepted by the Board for renewal. South Carolina PTs/PTAs may earn all 30 hours required for renewal through online and home study courses available @ https://www.milestonece.com/.

Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants licensed in South Carolina will not have a CEU requirement for the first biennium renewal period in which they are initially licensed. Graduates of a Board approved educational program and initially licensed are said to have met the CEU requirement for the first biennium renewal year.

Information obtained from the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy website on 12/3/2012. http://www.llr.state.sc.us/pol/physicaltherapy/
