LubriSyn and ReBorne, Simpsonville based natural supplement companies have announced that they will host the Old Friends Derby Party, a private charity event in which all proceeds will be donated to Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Facility to help support retired thoroughbreds on Sunday, April 28 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. The event will take place at Allday Farm, 726 Antioch Rd, Shelbyville, KY. It will include a silent auction with one-of-a-kind racing memorabilia, live entertainment from Swing 39 and the Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, and even a visit from a famous four-legged friend.

Old Friends was founded in 2003 by former Boston Globe film critic, Michael Blowen, and now cares for over 130 horses across three states, most of them stallions whose racing and breeding careers h      ave come to an end. The formation of Old Friends kicked into gear when the news broke that Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand had perished in a slaughterhouse in 2003. “We went from getting five emails a day to hundreds,” notes Blowen.” “We knew such a death could never happen again, and so the plan became to bring at risk racehorses to Old Friends and provide them with a dignified retirement.”
