In Manhattan, Mark Sanders (General Manager) made this announcement to 1,020 hotel staff and executives:
“As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary this year, we look toward the future of our property as we continue to change and grow. In today’s age of online travel searches, it is important for us to continue to attract business and leisure guests, while maximizing our assets. Adding ‘Times Square’ to our name gives a nod to our central location in the heart of the Times Square Business District.”
In Beijing, Kai Fischer (Director of Sales and Marketing) announced the name change during a trade mission in China, where New York travel industry partners and NYC & Company met with local travel industry professionals to promote New York City.
“We are acknowledging the growing trend and importance of the international traveler, especially since one of the key [online] search terms for people traveling to New York City is ‘Times Square’," he said. "With the new name, we honor our hotel’s location and will appear more frequently when a potential guest searches [online] for hotels in Times Square.”
