Taking inspiration from the SLS AMG GT3 racecar, this is the fifth of the Mercedes-Benz “Black Series,” which is designed to accentuate driving dynamics and design, in addition to featuring a top-of-the-line lightweight construction for improved performance.
Bred just as much for the racetrack as the highway, this SLS sports a 6.3L V8 engine capable of up to 622 hp and allows drivers to go from 0 to 60 mph in merely 3.5 seconds. Further technological advancements, such as a coil-over AMG adaptive suspension, optimized light-alloy wheels, and high-performance ceramic brakes allow the vehicle to reach new levels of performance.
With a top speed of 196 mph, it is clear that the engineers at Mercedes-Benz have been tweaking the SLS AMG GT that the Black Series is based upon, as the new engine offers a 39-hp improvement, likely due to its:
● Revised high-speed valve train
● Adapted cam geometry
● Modified air intake
● Increase of maximum engine speed to 8,000 rpm
The new dual-clutch transmission presents four different driving modes, allowing the optimization of the engine based on driver preferences for performance and fuel economy.
The name of the Black Series comes from their matte black design and accents, presenting a stylish, muscular design to a race-ready vehicle.
