2014-MY Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series
This vehicle is being lovingly built for raw performance. It will come equipped with a 6.3L V8 engine that’s capable of delivering 622 hp at 7,400 rpm and 468 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm — practically, this means that the car will be able to jump from zero to sixty miles per hour in a mere 3.5 seconds; and with a top speed of 196 miles per hour, there’s little that will be able to hold this supercar back. Carrying a total weight of only 3,417 pounds, it’s got the best power-to-weight ration of any Black Series vehicles; and among all AMG vehicles, it’s the most powerful model outfitted with a combustion engine.
It should come as no surprise that each Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series vehicle will be built by hand at the AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany.
The coil-over AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension delivers strong driving dynamics, along with the weight-optimized wheels and two-piece ceramic brake system. The vehicle also comes equipped with an electronically controlled rear-axle differential lock and a seven-speed transmission. Drivers who want to squeeze every last drop out of this supercar can also add the AMG Aerodynamics package.
Olla Kallenius, Mercedes-AMG GmbH chairman, said, “The new SLS Black Series is a perfect study in 100-percent transfer of technology and engineering from motorsport to road.” It’s expected to be available in the United states in the summer of 2013.
