Whistler 3D Solutions releases new Maps and Apps

WHISTLER, BC, December 5, 2012 – Whistler 3D Solutions has once again updated our 3D Maps of the Whistler and Cypress Mountain ski resorts. We are also pleased to announce new maps for two resorts located in Colorado, USA ; Breckenridge and Copper Mountain.

Our Maps allow people to learn the layout (and names) of trails, lifts, terrain parks, ski area boundaries and other important on-mountain services. The Whistler Map also includes plenty of off-mountain information such as the location of doctors,banks, accommodations, post office etc. A summer version of Whistler is also available, it focuses on the mountain biking and hiking trails in the valley. Descriptions are available for some items, as are elevation profiles for the biking and hiking trails.

The user interface offers a full screen map with a navigational menu in the bottom left corner. The menu allows people to quickly and easily move from one item of interest to the next. A search function is also included to help find items known by name. New features include the ability to toggle the visibilities of more items, a measuring tool so you can find out how far it is from one point to another (eg accommodation to the ski lift), and the LIVE updating of lift status.

The 3D Maps were made using Google EarthTM and in order to view the Maps, users must download and install the Google Earth Plugin.

Modified versions of all the Maps are available for AppleTM  and AndroidTM  mobile devices. Users can view the maps while in resort and use their mobile devices' built-in GPS (if available) to locate and correctly orientate themselves. New features of the mobile apps are: faster load times via storing the data on the phone (Android only) or by using a smaller file to download (Apple version), new icons, descriptions now included, and they are more tablet-friendly.
