The judges were impressed with how Emily uses digital images to create a magical world that leads children and adults on a fascinating journey as they walk over the floor pieces.
Emily, who is based in Staffordshire, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that the judges considered our designs to be the best in the flooring category. The designs I produce are bespoke for each customer. They are made from hundreds of small photographs combined together to create enormous images. Our recent clients include Madame Tussauds and Gladstone Flooring.”
As well as a portfolio of private and commercial clients, hospitals and health centres have also commissioned Emily’s work.
Hemingway told the star-studded ceremony at Manchester Central, attended by 300 of the north’s top designers and architects: “There is a great deal of passion, drive and talent in the north and these awards serve to recognise and reward those who go the extra mile. Winning such accolades can do wonders for businesses large and small.”
Designer Linda Barker, who also presented the awards, said: “Great design is all around us, all the time. It can stand out a mile, or blend in imperceptibly – but when you see it, you know it. However, it never does any harm to point out particularly wonderful examples in particular areas of the country, and that's what the Northern Design Awards are all about.”
