Divorcing couples should not lose hope, despite the many studies proving divorce's negative health effects. According to Liu in an interview with Health Day News, she found that being divorced may not necessarily result in damaged health, but the transition from marriage to divorce hurts health during that short period
Liu studied 1,282 participants in the Americans' Changing Lives survey, focusing on self-reports of their health. After compiling data, Liu evaluated the health reports of those who divorced during the 15 years the survey continued against those who remained married.
