The Barrett Company, book, movie and TV PR firm offers new service for authors seeking film-TV deals

Hollywood book PR firm - The Barrett Company - provides new service for authors interested in getting their books adapted for movies and TV productions. Firm gets authors' works to Hollywood studios, TV networks, top cable TV channels.

PRLog - Feb. 19, 2013 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Hollywood, CA  - -  Book, movie and TV publicist Charles Barrett, who heads Hollywood publicity firm The Barrett Company (www.thebarrettco.com) announces the establishment of his book PR firm's "Book To Screen" unit designed to assist those authors who want to get their books before the eyes of the Hollywood creative community for screen adaptations for motion pictures and television productions.

"A select group of authors want to get their book  to Hollywood film and TV producers at studios, networks, cable channels. We recognize this need and have set up a unit within our firm to serve these authors that seek screen adaptations for their published works, be they print or e-books. It can be quite challenging to navigate the Hollywood  entertainment industry landscape, culture without knowing the protocol and having the contacts needed to do so. We have those contacts, having worked on hundreds of books, movies and TV shows since the 1980s," emphasized Mr. Barrett.

TBC's new " Book To Screen" unit  offers authors a range of book to screen services starting with creating a film and/or television treatment (a precursor to a screenplay or teleplay)  to a full blown screenplay for placement with Hollywood producers. "TBC's professional Hollywood writers work with our author clients to ensure a smooth and professionally done document to be used in the Hollywood producer campaign. This is a crucial and important part of what we do...making sure what we submit to the studio or network is a well crafted and polished piece of work that well represents our author client's work," Mr. Barrett said.

Recently, TBC has generated movie producer interest for 2 books at Paramont Studios and another book with a well known independent movie producer with a string of hits.

"It is really a case of matching up a book with Hollywood producers who may be interested based upon their (the producers) body of work in film or television. If an author has a military-action film perhaps it could be taken to the producers of movies like 'Top Gun' or 'Black Hawk Down.'  If it's an action thriller producers who created  'Skyfall' could be interested to see a writer's  book in this genre...and for comedy, we would consider those fimmakers that brought such block busters as 'Ted' and 'Hotel Transylvania' to the big screen this year," asserted Mr. Barrett.

The Barrett Company has worked with with such Hollywood powerhouses as Paramount Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, 20th Century Fox Film Corp., CBS, ABC, Universal, A&E, AMC, Sony Pictures and MGM Studios.  TBC has represented the producers of such movies as "Platoon," "Hoosiers," "The Last Emperor" to James Bond films and numerous film festivals in the USA and overseas. Mr, Barrett has worked with such TV stars as Johnny Carson to actresses Elizabeth Taylor, Robin Wright ("Santa Barbara" television series)  and many, many others.  TBC has repped such popular reality TV shows as the Emmy winning series "The Amazing Race" to "Cops" to "Unsolved Mysteries" and other drama and comedy series now in the 2012-2013 TV season.

TBC's book author clients include John Locke, the first self-published author to sell 1 million books on Kindle, which resulted in a deal with Simon & Schuster. Others include Carla Malden (daughter of actor Karl Malden)  and her book "Afterimage"  to Peter Ford's book on his father Glenn Ford, titled "Glenn Ford: A Life." Current author clients include Morrie Richfield/"Mr. Breeze," Bob Ferguson/"Buzzard Bay," Behcet Kaya/"Murder on the Naval Base" and Jack Duffy/"The Man from 2063," a time travel book on the controversial JFK murder in Dallas, which will mark its 50th anniversary in 2013.
