Darrin Peppers Embraces Shriners Hospital, Ride Sees $25,000 for Children’s Hospital

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 4, 2012 - Darrin Peppers has encouraged people to donate to Shiners, since his involvement with charities in Washington State and hosting the largest blood and bone marrow drive in Washington State. Recently, High Lifter Products and Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar teamed up for the 5th consecutive year to host a benefit mud ride for Shriners Hospital for Children at High Lifter Off Road Park in Shreveport, December 2. This year's benefit brought the largest attendance to date with almost 900 ATV enthusiasts attending the day-long trail and mud ride to raise money and collect toys for the hospitalized children.

This year's event set a new record in money and toys raised for the hospital. More than $25,000 in cash was raised from gate admissions, raffle ticket sales, monetary donations, and food sales from an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast at area Applebee's and the Applebee's concession stand at the park. Raffle prizes included a 2013 Polaris Ranger 900 XP donated by Polaris Industries, a year's worth of coupons for Applebee's valued at $7,300, a Teryx Windshield and Mule Windshield donated by MTA, an LSU Tailgating Pack donated by Risk & Benefit Solutions of Shreveport/Carthage, a WARN winch donated by WARN Industries, and a set of HD Wheels donated by Performance ATV.

"I am absolutely amazed at the turnout for this year's event," said Scott Smith, owner of High Lifter Products. "This is my favorite event we put on each year because 100% of what is raised goes back to the Shriners Hospital for Children. The hospital does so much for so many without asking for a dime. We are so glad that we, along with Applebee's and Scott McDaniel, and Polaris were able to give back to an organization that has impacted the lives of many."

Members from Shriners Hospital for Children of Shreveport were on hand to accept the donation and were amazed at the records set by this year's event, which has become one of the biggest local fund-raisers for the hospital. High Lifter and Applebee's have already begun planning for the 2013 Shriners Ride scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7. Since 1922, the Shriners Hospital and their 22 facilities have been dedicated to providing specialty pediatric care. Thousands of children with orthopedic conditions, burns and spinal cord injuries, have been treated in a family-centered environment at no charge.
