By: Lisa Mullen, Verde PR Entrants were asked to submit an essay and explain in 500 words or less, what sets their classroom or group apart from other programs, and why they feel their group should win. Splore, a non-for-profit organization that brings together people of varying abilities for adventures that empower them to connect with Utah's great outdoors, along with Forest Hills Elementary in Sidman, PA were both selected for their essays which stood above the rest. “Both Forest Hills and Splore had the perfect combination of engaging, funny, and heartfelt submissions for why their program should win,” said Sarah Rose, marketing manager for Tubbs. “Forest Hills created Project R.I.O. (Rangers in the Outdoors) and had the top 10 reasons their program should win, while Splore’s submission showed their quest for a balance of their mission to get kids outdoors while experiencing Joy,” she said. Splore and Forest Hills will be given approximately 30-40 snowshoes, along with the Tubbs’ Winter Fit® for Kids Programming. Splore’s program hopes to get youth out on snow 3-5 times a week, sometimes hosting outings multiple times a day. Forest Hills’ programming will reach 400+ students through P.E. classes and also in after school programs. In exchange, the winners will be sharing their successes and challenges with Tubbs followers. Follow these and other Tubbs’ community programs at: www.tubbssnowshoes.com/ End
