About the Speaker Jan Herring was an intelligence officer with the CIA for 20 years where he set up the federal government's first unit that analyzed the impact of foreign civilian technology on the U.S. economy. Later, at Motorola, he developed a business-intelligence function based on his national security experience. Jan created and ran The Futures Group's Business Intelligence Practice for ten years. Jan and Ben Gilad established the Academy of Competitive Intelligence, where Jan continues to lecture on the topic of "Organizing and Managing World Class CI Programs." Jan is a recipient of the SCIP Meritorious Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Society.
