Sunnyside Unified School District’s 1-to-1 Computing Program Partners with BLEgroup

Dec. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- December 4, 2012, Washington, D.C ---Sunnyside Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Manuel Isquierdo, lives and practices the “it takes a village” philosophy. With a hugely at-risk population, including over 94% minority and 30% English language learner students, Dr. Isquierdo knew his district needed to access the best and brightest minds to develop a plan to give these students the building blocks they needed to succeed.  Understanding that collaboration is key to student success, Dr. Isquierdo knew that more exposure to technology would be the game changer for engaging and preparing his students, raising the district’s graduation rate and improving academic achievement.

With his One-to-One teaching and learning environment that provides each student access to a wireless laptop throughout the school day and beyond, Dr. Isquierdo is empowering his students with “anytime, anywhere” learning. In fact, the program has proved so successful that the Sunnyside District is recognized nationally as one of the leading districts in One-to-One education. Dr. Isquierdo believes his work with the BLEgroup was the catalyst behind this initiative to bridge the local digital, economic, language and learning divides.

“It is important for the community at large to know that the One-to-One initiative came out of the BLEgroup. I participate in two BLEgroup Leadership panels per year because they provide me with access to cutting-edge technologies and solutions for our district,” stated Dr. Isquierdo. “My participation has afforded my district tremendous acceleration by leveraging the BLEgroup’s platform. Our district benefits from this partnership because we then have the opportunity to pilot these products and build a better learning environment for our students.”
