“Apollo was a huge statement piece, not only in my career, but even personally as an artist. It really gave me an, 'I can really do this' confidence boost in regards to chasing my dream. It was one thing to be able to represent as I did on such a historic stage, but to now have the opportunity to do so with The Boys [her band] is SUCH an honor and so VERY exciting!!! I'm grateful to have such an awesome platform!" explained Reesa Renee.
In October 2011, Reesa became the second person to win the legendary Apollo Theater in three years with an original song, “Got Me Loose.” This proved to pave Reesa’s future; not only were her performance skills and songwriting abilities vetted, but she won over what has historically been the most difficult audience in the world. (Apollo Theater just released a behind-the-scenes video with a charismatic Reesa, filmed on the day leading up to her performance.)
