Dec. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- LifeLine Ambulance Service, the region’s fastest growing ambulance company and healthcare service, announced the formation of the  LifeLine Ambulance Charitable Foundation, a separate entity whose mission is charged with supporting  children’s, healthcare and educational causes.

Brian J. Connor, Founder, President /CEO of LifeLine Ambulance Service, said that this is an idea that has interested him for some time, and as his firm recently celebrated its sixth anniversary, he said it was time to go forward with the plan.

They launched the foundation with a sixth anniversary harbor cruise and fundraiser for the foundation, which included over 600 passengers and raised $5,000 to begin the endowment. The entity will be entirely separate from LifeLine Ambulance, with its own Board of Directors, who will be tasked with evaluating funding requests and supporting causes which benefit children’s issues, as well as educational and healthcare concerns.

He anticipates that his firm will contribute approximately $50,000 each year to the Foundation. In order to accomplish this, he has dedicated two ambulances – one in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire  -- to serve as the “foundation ambulances.” All revenues raised from the normal and daily operation of these two vehicles will be earmarked for the foundation. The vehicles are currently being “lettered” with signage that reflects their unique mission.

Connor said he believes this type of a Foundation with revenue generating opportunities derived from his ambulance service is the first of its kind in the industry, and certainly in the Massachusetts/New Hampshire region where he operates 14 satellite offices.. He reflected on the rationale that led him to this step. “You cannot be in this business and not be moved by the need to be a good corporate citizen and support causes that make a difference in all of our lives,” he said, adding, “I believe that having a separate independent group of individuals evaluating funding opportunities is a fair and impartial way to accomplish that goal.” Connor said that the foundation will be set up so that it can accept outside contributions from other organizations who wish to do their corporate giving through a tax deductible foundation.

Further details, including the names of the Directors, scholarship opportunities and funding requests will be announced in the near future.
