Brian J. Connor, Founder, President /CEO of LifeLine Ambulance Service, said that this is an idea that has interested him for some time, and as his firm recently celebrated its sixth anniversary, he said it was time to go forward with the plan.
They launched the foundation with a sixth anniversary harbor cruise and fundraiser for the foundation, which included over 600 passengers and raised $5,000 to begin the endowment. The entity will be entirely separate from LifeLine Ambulance, with its own Board of Directors, who will be tasked with evaluating funding requests and supporting causes which benefit children’s issues, as well as educational and healthcare concerns.
He anticipates that his firm will contribute approximately $50,000 each year to the Foundation. In order to accomplish this, he has dedicated two ambulances – one in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire -- to serve as the “foundation ambulances.”
Connor said he believes this type of a Foundation with revenue generating opportunities derived from his ambulance service is the first of its kind in the industry, and certainly in the Massachusetts/
Further details, including the names of the Directors, scholarship opportunities and funding requests will be announced in the near future.
