Dec. 3, 2012 - IMR KHA – Portland has received Nadcap-accreditation to perform low-stress grinding. Earlier in 2012, IMR KHA purchased a new Supertec G25P-50CNC grinder to expand the lab’s extensive machining capabilities. This non-abusive type of sample preparation reduces residual stress on materials and produces more accurate samples than conventional machining processes. Cutting is performed with a small, accurately controlled depth of cut, and is preferable for materials being tested for fatigue or creep/stress rupture.
