This year, residents chose The Hospital Hospitality House as beneficiary. Having a loved one in the hospital or undergoing rehabilitation is hard enough. Being away from home can make it even harder. The Hospital Hospitality House, located on East Marshall Street, gives patients and their families “a place to call home” during their stay in Richmond. Since opening their doors in 1984, HHH has served over 130,000 guests from across Virginia, the United States and world.
This Aquathon has raised nearly $78,000 for national and area nonprofits since its inception. Residents of The Home conceived the idea as a way to give back to a community that has been so supportive of them over the years. “Particularly during a traditional time of giving,” says Belinda Falconer, Director of Development, “our residents are eager to give something back to a community that has been so supportive of them. It is inspiring to see these individuals reach out to help someone else in need. It’s what the spirit of the season is all about.”
