Slow Foods Chicago Benefits In December As The Signature Room's® Charity Of The Month

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 4, 2012 - CHICAGO, Ill. – The year-long Charity of the Month program at The Signature Room® concludes the 2012 calendar year with Slow Food Chicago as the December beneficiary. The program was created by owners, Rick Roman and Nick Pyknis, and donates 10 percent of sales generated from the Signature Monthly Dinner Menu to the non-profit chosen for the given month. The Charity of the Month program has donated over $1 million to more than 200 Chicagoland organizations since the program’s inception in 1993.

Slow Food is a global, grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. Slow Food Chicago works locally to create a world where food is good, clean and fair through educational outreach and community building events. The Signature Monthly Dinner Menu offers delicious options for every course, in addition to a specialty cocktail exclusively created for the month of December. Begin with a candy cane martini crafted with Purity vodka, peppermint schnapps and completed with a candy cane garnish. Starters include seared sea scallops accompanied with black truffle mashed potatoes, bacon, Japanese mushrooms and edamame in a white truffle-miso sauce; a sweet potato and turnip soup with crispy pancetta and turnip chips; or a wild mushroom salad with winter greens, fried goat cheese and pomegranate vinaigrette. Choose from one of the seasonal entrées including a seared black sea bass with creamy parsnips, spinach and a saffron-vanilla sauce or a Serrano ham wrapped veal loin with Manchego cheese polenta, wilted greens, braised shallots in a veal cream sauce. The chestnut napoleon with cinnamon crème anglaise is the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Mission statements of all Charity of the Month non-profits are posted on the restaurant’s website along with full details regarding the application and review process. All beneficiaries are chosen during an annual application review.
