He seems to have caught the attention of television executives and the reason is clear to everyone. He is a great composer.
“Joe Deveau has it all; competent vocal harmony, refined Wurly, Rhodes, Hammond, and acoustic piano sounds, and impressive chops from all band members that fit naturally into touching songs. Deveau delivers intelligible lyrics about everyday experiences in an unstrained voice. There’s humor, sentimentality, and even plainness here. Bravo!” --Keyboard Magazine
“Carry You Home is an album comprised of expansive arrangements. Itis for this reason “Nobody Else” stands out for its lovely simplicity. There are other elements in addition to piano, but Deveau has generally stripped it down to the basics, with the aural focus on piano and vocal. It’s a really pretty song.
It’s sometimes easy to take softer music for granted. Music this pretty sometimes causes
one to miss the intelligence underpinning it. Joe Deveau is one smart songwriter, with a
lot more going for him than just piano skills and smooth voice. Carry You Home is one
fine effort.” - Dan MacIntosh
“Joe Deveau has an eminently listenable voice. He never blows you away with a signature sound, but delivers each song in a clear and artistically satisfying. Deveau has a gift for writing understated arrangements that are pretty and plain, allowing his voice and the story he’s telling to reign supreme. Carry You Home is a real treat that you will findyourself returning to again and again.” - Wildy Haskell
