BioVision Introduces Two New Assay Kits: Acetate Colorimetric Assay Kit and PGI Activity Assay Kit

BioVision is thrilled to introduce two brand new assay kits: Acetate Colorimetric Assay Kit, a highly sensitive kit for measuring Acetate levels and PGI Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit, which is a metabolic/cell signaling assay kit.

Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Acetate Colorimetric Assay Kit [Cat # K658-100 (100 Assays)]: Acetate is an important component for biosynthesis. In living organisms, acetylation/deacetylation of proteins is critical for post-translational regulation of their functions. When bound to CoA, Acetyl-CoA is central to metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. It is also involved in the synthesis of biogenic compounds such as neurotransmitter acetylcholine. In Biovision’s Acetate Assay Kit, Acetate is converted to an intermediate in the presence of Acetate Enzyme Mix & Acetate Substrate Mix. The intermediate reduces a colorless probe to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450 nm.

Key Features and Benefits of the Kit:
- Simple procedure; takes ~ 40 minutes
- Rapid, Convenient & Sensitive
- Versatile: can be used with animal tissues, adherent or suspension cells, serum, plasma, food etc.
- Can detect less than 20 µM Acetate in various samples
- Colorimetric quantification (OD = 450 nm)
- Kit provides ample reagents to perform 100 assays in a 96-well plate format

Phosphoglucose Isomerase (PGI) Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit [Cat # K775-100 (100 Assays)]: Phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI, EC 5.3.1.9) is an important housekeeping enzyme. PGI catalyzes the interconversion of glucose-6-phosphate to fructose-6-phosphate. PGI performs multiple functions & intracellularly plays key role in both glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Extracellularly, PGI [also called Autocrine Motility Factor (AMF)] functions as a cytokine, which stimulates cell motility and is associated with tumor development and metastasis. In humans, PGI deficiency causes hemolytic anemia, whereas increased PGI activity is observed in many cancers such as gastrointestinal, kidney and breast cancer. Early detection of abnormal phosphoglucose isomerase activity is crucial for diagnosis, prediction and therapeutic strategy. In BioVision’s Phosphoglucose Isomerase Activity Assay Kit, PGI converts fructose-6-phosphate to glucose-6-phosphate; the glucose-6-phosphate is oxidized by glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase to form a product, which reacts with a colorless probe to give strong absorbance at 450 nm.

Key Features and Benefits of the Kit:
- Simple and convenient
- Rapid, reliable and highly sensitive
- Colorimetric quantification (OD = 450 nm)
- Can detect as low as 0.1 mU
- Versatile: can be used with animal tissues, adherent or suspension cells, bacteria, yeast, fish etc.
- Kit provides ample reagents to perform 100 assays in a 96 well plate format
