Christina Fluman Named GTM Sportswear's November Athelete of the Month

Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Easton, PA – November 20, 2012 - The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) and GTM Sportswear® proudly announce that Christina Fluman, a girls’ senior soccer player at Pittsford Mendon High School in Pittsford, New York, is the GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Month for November 2012.  Fluman will be honored at a ceremony and news conference at Pittsford Mendon High School on November 29, 2012 at (TDB) A.M./P.M.

This past season, Fluman, a four-year varsity starter and a team captain the last two seasons, led her team to a first-place finish during the regular season Class A and Division II.  The team then advanced to the Section V quarterfinals and finished with an overall record of 11-3-3.  

Fluman, who will play college soccer on a scholarship at St. Bonaventure University, has also traveled to Spain and Italy as part of the New York Section V All-Star team in 2011 and 2012.

Fluman, who aspires to become a doctor, is a member of the National Honor Society and earlier this year was named the News 10 Scholar Athlete.

“With hard work and the support of my family, friends, coaches and teachers, I have been able to reach my goals,” Fluman said.  “It’s a great honor and I’m very grateful to everyone who has helped me get to this point.”

NHSCA and GTM Sportswear honor one deserving high school athlete each month from September 2012 through April 2013.  NHSCA coaches nominate commendable athletes through the NHSCA website.  Each month, six finalists are selected by the NHSCA and presented via ballot to a group of high school sports writers, high school coaches, NHSCA and GTM Sportswear representatives to choose the winner.  Out of the eight recipients of the monthly award, one athlete is chosen as the GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Year in May 2013.
