The hybrid car, which goes on sale in January in California and New York, is estimated to get 115 MPGe and has an estimated 49 city/45 highway/47 combined fuel economy, making it incredibly energy efficient.

When the car makes its debut, it will be the first production vehicle in the U.S. that meets the SULEV 20 requirements, qualifying it as a super ultra-low emission vehicle.

The 2014 Honda Accord PHEV will retail at $39,780 when it debuts in 2013.
