Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Your Vote Can Help American Leadership Academy, located at Higley and Pecos win a new playground. ALA has been nominated for a Power A Bright Future grant from the Clorox Company in hopes of securing up to $50,000 in funding for renovation of their Playground.

The school is looking for support from their family, community and friends. They are currently ranked 29th across the nation in votes.  You can help ALA win up to $50,000 by casting votes once daily through Dec. 19, 2012. Adults and kids 13+ can vote online at https://powerabrightfuture.clorox.com/nominees/detail/?nid=2262 or by texting 2262pbf to 95248.

“Our school has raised enough money to demolish the temporary classroom buildings and create new classroom space for our students.  Unfortunately, in the process it will eliminate the outdated playground.  This grant will help us to build a much needed new playground for our kids” said Cathy Turner, PSO Treasurer.

The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $50,000 grand-prize grant, and the next top vote-getters in the Play, Create and Explore categories respectively will each be awarded a $25,000 grant. A panel of Clorox judges will also select three additional lucky schools, one in each category, to win a $25,000 judges' choice grant.

American Leadership Academy opened its doors in 2009.  Its vision is developing leaders through education and service. The charter school received Covey Lighthouse status last year.    In order to achieve this status, they teach their students the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People developed by Stephen R. Covey. “The students have amazed us with how well they have learned and applied the habits in their schooling and their home lives.  With the great curriculum and accelerated learning that our kids experience in our classrooms, the kids really need a place to play and sharpen their saw (Stephen R. Covey - Habit 7). This grant would definitely make play more fun at American Leadership Academy.” Jody Rogers, PSO President.
