Comfort Keepers Mississauga North Announces New In-Home Foot Care Service in Mississauga

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 30, 2012 - Comfort Keepers Mississauga North is pleased to announce the launch of their new In-Home Foot Care Service.  Comfort Keepers is dedicated to keeping its clients physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy through our commitment to Interactive Caregiving.  As people age, taking care of their foot health becomes an increasing challenge.  Issues around flexibility, strength, and circulation can lead to serious foot health problems.  Those suffering from Diabetes in particular need specialized foot care to avoid developing the types of wounds which can so often lead to therapeutic amputations.

The new service will be provided by Amandeep Gill DCH.  Ms. Gill is a long-time resident of Mississauga, who is a Registered Chiropodist and also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from York University.  Ms. Gill has also worked in inner city community centres, hospitals and private clinics, treating a diverse range of patients from paediatrics to seniors.

Comfort Keepers Mississauga North's new In-Home Foot Care Service will provide the following services to existing and new clients:  Nail care, Wound care, Calluses, Corns, Diabetic Nail/Foot Care and Orthotics.

“We are so excited to be able to offer this service to our clients.” said Stacey Vassos, owner of the Comfort Keepers Mississauga North office.  “It is a vital tool to assist us in keeping the Seniors in Mississauga as healthy as possible, thus reducing the burden on our already strained health care system.”  According to CostHelper.com the direct cost, to the health care system, of a therapeutic amputation can range from $20,000 to $60,000 depending on the location of the amputation.  Then there are the ongoing costs, physical therapy, prosthetics, assistive devices, loss of independence, increased need for Personal Services, and the emotional toll of having undergone an amputation.
