By: Heather Logrippo "The Hans Brings Results for Children's Charities Fund," donates annually to this great cause. "Charity is an important part of my life and the holidays serve as a reminder that there are so many families in need," Brings said. "As a long time Waltham resident the Snowflake Fund is important to me and I was more than happy to donate this year. As an area Realtor, I also offer my clients the option to contribute; if they do I will match their donation dollar for dollar." The William F. Stanley Elementary School sponsors the Snowflake fundraiser every holiday season. The Snowflake Fund is a charity effort organized by the Parents and Teachers Organization that aims to provide holiday gifts to families in need that are affiliated with the school. Each holiday season Stanley School families in need are identified with the help of the School Adjustment Counselor. Once selected, the families provide wish lists for items their children need or want. The lists can include items such as clothing, winter outerwear, pajamas, shoes/boots and toys. Members of the community can choose to donate money or select snowflake tags. Snowflake tags are created that list the item requested along with the gender and age of the child, and sizes for clothing/footwear as appropriate. Families and staff from the school take the snowflakes, purchase the item, and drop it off at the school wrapped with the snowflake attached. Families remain completely anonymous to all but the school's adjustment counselor. The Stanley School has 460 students and a faculty of 93 full- and part-time personnel. There are twenty-seven regular classrooms in grades pre-K through five along with a primary resource room and three pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) classrooms. The school is located at 250 South Street, Waltham, MA 02453 and can be contacted at (781) 314-5620. End
